This month's food swap was small again, but man, there were some great items to trade. I am really impressed with our group of gardeners/cooks/canners/etc.
This time around I took some of the loquat chutney I made several weeks ago and a lonely jar of sandwich pickles that were hard for me to part with—best batch I have ever made—but I figured cucumber season is upon us again so hopefully I can recreate them (and yes, I kept a jar for myself too!).
Other people swapped: garden fresh tomatillos, backyard eggs, honey-orange butter, spicy loquat preserves, homemade chicken eggrolls, red pepper hummus, samosas, garden-fresh Swiss chard, ratatouille, salsa, chocolate-covered Oreos, and chocolate-covered pretzels.
The snack table was a yummy spread too, as usual...

Scenes of actual swapping:
I came out of it with a great haul once again with almost a little of everything: chocolate-covered Oreos, chicken eggrolls, tomatillos, samosas, eggs, ratatouille, honey-orange butter, and hummus.

The best pickles I EVER had were made by PJ's grandmother. She would bottle up tons of them and we would eat them jars at a time... Do you make any dill pickles Tink?
ReplyDeleteI have done dills... I am partial to hot and sour pickles, so that is what I usually do. Sometimes sweet ones too. Can't beat homemade pickles!
